How it works

A clear journey from church enrollment to ongoing support.

The Program gives church leadership a reliable pathway without placing individual legal representation under church control.

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Church enrolls

A coordinated, respectful handoff that keeps the pathway clear for participating families and church leadership.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Church receives Program access information

A coordinated, respectful handoff that keeps the pathway clear for participating families and church leadership.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Member contacts Liberation Law

A coordinated, respectful handoff that keeps the pathway clear for participating families and church leadership.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Administrative intake

The initial intake is designed to identify the next appropriate step. It should not be used to transmit extensive immigration history through a general form.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Paralegal support

A coordinated, respectful handoff that keeps the pathway clear for participating families and church leadership.

  6. 6

    Step 6

Attorney escalation when legal judgment is required

When legal judgment is required, the attorney—not church leadership—directs legal work according to professional obligations and the individual client’s needs.

  7. 7

    Step 7

Legal work, consultation, or covered filing

A coordinated, respectful handoff that keeps the pathway clear for participating families and church leadership.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Ongoing administrative support

A coordinated, respectful handoff that keeps the pathway clear for participating families and church leadership.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Monthly Program reporting

A coordinated, respectful handoff that keeps the pathway clear for participating families and church leadership.

Two types of support

Administrative coordination is not the same as Attorney Utilization.

Routine intake, scheduling, document coordination, reminders, follow-up, and other administrative or paralegal support ordinarily does not reduce included Attorney Utilization. Attorney time is used when professional legal judgment, consultation, review, strategy, supervision, or legal work is required.

ESTIMATED INCLUDED ATTORNEY UTILIZATION

6 hours

Routine administrative and paralegal support ordinarily does not reduce included Attorney Utilization.

Estimate only. Final pricing, eligibility, coverage, utilization and other terms are governed by the Church Partnership Agreement.

If included Attorney Utilization is exceeded, the first 5 excess attorney hours are billed at $200/hour and additional excess attorney hours at $250/hour. These are institutional Program charges to the church, not individual attorney bills. Unused attorney capacity does not roll over.

Private by design

The church sponsors access. It does not become the client in a member’s individual matter.

The member is the client. Church leadership does not automatically receive confidential case information, and the church does not control legal strategy. Attorneys exercise independent professional judgment. This distinction protects the member, respects the church’s role, and keeps the Program grounded in legal professionalism.
